Kevin Oliver, Executive Director- Legal Technology, Allen & Overy

Kevin heads Allen & Overy’s (A&O’s) LegalTech team and provides strategic and operational leadership within the firm in the rapidly evolving field of legal tech. He is responsible for implementing technology solutions that have a tangible impact on client service, by equipping and enabling our lawyers to gain the maximum benefits from these technologies.

Kevin previously headed up the firm’s global IT operations function, and he has also played a key role in the development of A&O’s Advanced Delivery offering for a number of years, being instrumental in helping to shape the strategy and direction of its support services centre in Belfast. Before joining A&O in 2008, Kevin worked in the utilities and energy sector, with a focus on IT solutions design.

James Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel, Ziglu

James Sullivan is Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel at cryptocurrency platform, Ziglu, overseeing legal, risk, compliance, financial crime, operations and corporate affairs. Previously he held the role of VP Head of Legal at Monzo during a period of considerable change and high growth, also acting as the bank’s Company Secretary. James has been working with disruptive fintechs since 2018 and prior to that worked in investment management as European COO and European GC, as well as MD of a funds administration business. James previously worked at Dechert and has an MBA from Cass Business School.

Philippa Poole, Senior Legal Counsel, Revolut

Philippa is Lead Counsel, Commercial at Revolut, helping to build the world’s first truly global financial superapp. Philippa joined Revolut two years ago and has seen the legal department grow from a team of five to now over 50 employees worldwide. A key focus for the team during this period of growth has been implementing smart solutions to ensure the legal team scales effectively and demonstrates how a modern in-house legal function can operate. Prior to Revolut, Philippa worked at Russell McVeagh and Meridian Energy in New Zealand.

Elliot Leibu, Head of Legal Operations, ANZ

Elliot is an experienced lawyer, legal operations professional and technologist.  He currently works in ANZ Bank’s tech team focused on technology implementation for regulatory and compliance matters.  He was previously Head of Legal Operations at the bank, responsible for delivering a number of initiatives to improve the legal team’s efficiency and to drive the use of technology and data in its processes and decision making.  Outside work he is a co-host of The Legal Ops Podcast, the leading podcast focused on all things legal operations, legal business and legal technology.  He is also a self-confessed geek, spending much of his time writing code and dabbling in full-stack web development.

Hywel Evans, Co-General Counsel- Global Banking & Markets & Global Commercial Banking, HSBC Bank Plc

Hywel is co-General Counsel of Global Banking and Markets and Global Commercial Banking. He joined HSBC in 2010 from Deutsche Bank where he leads a team of lawyers focussing on the Bank’s credit and emerging markets trading floors. He also spent three years working as a Structurer in Emerging Markets Trading.

Hywel holds a BA (Hons) in Modern History from Oxford University and is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales. He trained and qualified at Clyde & Co in London.

Carolyn Aldous, Managing Director, Peerpoint

Carolyn Aldous is the managing director of Peerpoint, Allen & Overy’s flexible resourcing business. Carolyn is passionate about helping clients access the skills and expertise of talented lawyers to meet their short term resourcing needs, but in equal measure, helping lawyers take control of their careers. Prior to joining Peerpoint, Carolyn was the Asia Pacific client relationship manager having spent time in both Singapore and Hong Kong. Carolyn holds a Master of Business Administration, Master of Marketing and a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) from Monash University in Melbourne.
