Ropes & Gray has hired Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) finance partner Malcolm Hitching.
Hitching is HSF’s former UK and EMEA finance head and has been a partner since 2003. He specialises in corporate financings, restructurings and debt finance.
Earlier this year, Ropes boosted its private equity team in the City with Travers Smith partner Helen Croke.
Other new recruits in the past 18 months include Chadbourne & Parke finance partner Partha Pal and K&L Gates litigation partner Thomas Ross.
Meanwhile HSF has seen a number of departures in its corporate and finance groups.
Global head of capital markets Steve Thierbach joined Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in London, along with fellow partner Chris Haynes. Its London private equity head James MacArthur also left for Weil Gotshal & Manges.
