Tulkinghorn takes an avuncular interest in lawyers’ progeny.

Readers will remember that the offspring of Freshfields’ David Higgins, Travers Smith‘s Charlie Barter and Allen & Overy‘s David Morley have all featured prominently on these pages, to name but a few.

He didn’t realise, however, that one son had his own fan club. Edward Randell, son of corporate partner Charles at Slaughter and May, has had one since playing Harry Potter’s unfortunate chum Justin Finch-Fletchley in the film version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

According to Tulkinghorn’s scribes, Justin was muggle-born and destined for Eton until he realised he had magical powers and was packaged off to Hogwarts instead. Sadly Justin is turned to stone by the serpentine basilisk because he looked directly at it – schoolboy error.

No word as yet if there’s any similar activity in the basement of 1 Bunhill Row if deals don’t go to plan.
