CC appoints new London head for key tax group

Clifford Chance has elected a new London head for its tax pensions and
practice as its gears up for elections for two new executive partner jobs.

Nick Sherwin takes over the role from 1 April from Robin Tremaine. Sherwin has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 1993 and currently heads the pensions group within this practice area, having previously worked within both the tax and pensions groups.

Sherwin said: “I am looking forward to building on our successes and working with all the partners to grow our practice. With market leading tax, pensions, employment and employee benefits capability, the practice continues to grow from strength to strength.”

Earlier this week, Mark Stewart was elected the managing partner of Clifford Chance’s London finance practice.

Clifford Chance is preparing itself for further elections next week after new managing partner David Childs abolished his previous post of chief executive officer. The role is being divided into two new executive partner positions – one for finance and one as a general counsel.

Elections will be held next week but is understood that Childs has put forward London tax partner David Harkness for executive financial partner. It is also widely expected that Chris Perrin be reelected as the firm’s general counsel.
