Irwin Mitchell’s chief executive officer (CEO) Andrew Tucker passed away on Wednesday 16 August from an unexpected illness, the firm announced today.
Tucker, who has been the firm’s CEO since 2014, has been at Irwin Mitchell for nearly 40 years, having joined in 1985 and made partner in 1988.
Before taking on the CEO role, Tucker was the chief executive of the group’s personal legal services division.
He also headed up the firm’s personal injury department, working on many high-profile cases. These included the Kegworth air crash, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) cases caused by recipients of cadaveric human growth hormone, and cases regarding the coal miners’ vibration white finger and chest illness.
Outside Irwin Mitchell, Tucker spent nine years as a Law Society council member for Yorkshire. He studied law at the University of Liverpool and at the Chester College of Law.
