Sidley Austin is continuing its recruitment drive in London – this time hiring Linklaters restructuring partner Yen Sum.

Sum became a partner at the magic circle firm in 2010 having joined in 2008 as a managing associate. She featured in The Lawyer Hot 100 in 2012.

She started off her career at Linklaters’ Australian alliance firm Allens Arthur Robinson before moving over to London where she spent three years in Barclays Capital’s in-house team.

At Sidley, Sum will become a partner in the firm’s corporate restructuring and bankruptcy group advising corporates, private equity sponsors, hedge funds and asset managers.

Her hire follows that of Kirkland & Ellis restructuring partner Jifree Cader last month. Kirkland has lost a number of partners to its US rival this year, with six partners jumping ship in February. The team consisted of two equity partners and four non-equity partners – Fatema Orjela, Christian Iwasko, Erik Dahl, Bryan Robson, Sava Savov and Oliver Currall.

Earlier this year, Sidley also added leveraged finance partner James Crooks to its ranks from Willkie Farr & Gallagher.
