Jonas Hankin QC has successfully prosecuted Henry Jones, aged 22, for the murder of Mark Beresford, aged 55, following a trial lasting 3 weeks.

Beresford died from traumatic brain injuries inflicted by the defendant, who claimed he had been acting in self-defence when he struck the victim with a metal bar. The jury rejected the complete defence of self-defence and also the partial defence of ‘loss of control’.

Jones was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years.
