Track 2: [Panel Discussion] The relationship between the GC and the legal operations team

About

Recent years have seen more and more people being appointed into legal operations roles, while the role itself has also evolved and matured — but where is the line being drawn between the role of the GC and the role of legal operations? This session looks at how the relationship between these two roles is evolving, what their interaction looks like in practice and what “good” looks like:

• How has legal operations transformed what in-house functions do? Where is the value in having a legal operations role?
• Where should the line be drawn between the roles of the GC and legal operations?
• How does that dynamic work in practice and what does that split of ownership and responsibilities looks like in practice?
• What is the interaction and interplay between the two roles, and should legal ops be part of your leadership team?
• How do you make sure that your head of legal operations has the right status and the right voice within the organisation? How does that dynamic and voice translate externally?
