The Walker Morris construction and engineering team has scoope two nominations at the British Legal Awards 2015 in recognition of its success in a major litigation case.

The awards celebrate the best in breed of the legal industry and are one of the leading awards for the UK’s business law community.

The Walker Morris construction and engineering team has been shortlisted for the following awards:

  • The Dispute Resolution Team of the Year Award
  • Paul Hargreaves, associate in the construction and engineering team for the Associate of the Year Award.

The nominations follow the team’s success in one of the biggest litigation cases heard in the TCC last year. The case, (Rendlesham Estates Plc and others v Barr Ltd [2014] EWHC 3968 (TCC)), involved advising 96 clients who were owners of apartments in a development in Leeds.

The apartments and common parts suffered major defects from the outset, which left the apartments unfit for habitation. Claims were brought against the main contractor, under the Defective Premises Act 1972 and against solicitors for a failure to warn that no building guarantee existed for the common parts.
