Online retailer JustFab has appointed its first general counsel for Europe with the hire of Amazon corporate counsel Antony Stokes.

Stokes joined JustFab’s London office in September after nearly four years as a lead in-house lawyer for Amazon’s digital software group.

Stokes will be supported by Europe senior legal counsel Christina Groeschel, who joined in 2013, working from the Berlin office.

The company turns to principal European adviser Bird & Bird for most of its legal work, but also has specialist advisers in the UK, Germany and Spain. Stokes said there were “no immediate plans” to change this set-up.

Global general counsel and executive vice president of corporate development Matt Fojut heads up the legal team from JustFab’s headquarters in California.

Stokes said the Europe legal chief role was set up to support the retailer’s “growing presence and ambitions in Europe”. He added that the company’s current European presence over nine countries, coupled with its athletics wear business, Fabletics, in six resulted in it being “a fast-growing, innovative business at an exciting stage of its development.”
