May I please add to your report of the death of Leslie Michaelson (The Lawyer, 20 May 1997) by paying tribute to the enormous amount of pro bono work he did in addition to his own very busy practice.
This Law Centre and its clients frequently had the benefit of free advice from Leslie. He was always prepared to look at difficult cases for us, particularly where legal aid was not available, and to advise on points of law and procedure, able to suggest imaginative and constructive tactical approaches which brought our clients success or resolved seemingly intractable disputes.
Leslie was prepared to assist us for no personal financial reward. He will be sorely missed.
