The new chairman of CMS Derks Star Busmann, the Dutch CMS firm, has thrown his weight behind plans to integrate the CMS alliance.
Derks has revamped its management board after its previous chairman Marek Guensberg and financial director Hans Spaans stepped down after leading the firm for five years.
Commenting on the integration, alignment and branding discussions within the alliance, new chairman-elect Dolf Segaar said: “I’ll be happy with any changes that will make CMS stronger in the market.”
UK firm CMS Cameron McKenna has been driving efforts to integrate the nine CMS firms under one CMS banner with more than 2,000 lawyers.
However, a general rebranding has hit some problems, with Italy’s CMS Adonnino Ascoli & Cavasola Scamoni and Spain’s CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo unwilling to shed their historical names.
In the Netherlands Marten Kroese will take over as financial director from Spaans. Kroese is a new hire from Phillips International, where he will remain as vice-president internal audit until March.
