Troubled Belgian firm Bogaert & Vandemeulebroeke has lost a large proportion of its IT and telecoms team to DLA, including department head Patrick Van Eecke.
The departures come after the firm removed itself from the Landwell network in June because of changes to legislation due to take effect in October, which place severe restrictions on accountancy-tied firms. It is now a ‘correspondent firm’ to Landwell.
On 15 September The Lawyer revealed that one of the firm’s founders, Geert Bogaert, and fellow corporate partner Grégoire Jakhian had defected to Loyens & Loeff.
“This is another important step in establishing us as the leading technology practice in Belgium and as one of the leading European technology arms,” said Julian Stait, DLA’s group head of technology, media and communications.
Bogaert & Vandemeulebroeke could not be reached for comment.
Darbys wins 3i in-houser to head corp finance
Midlands and Thames Valley firm Darbys has hired a new head for the corporate finance unit. Phil Riman joins from 3i, where he spent five years in-house, advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and venture capital issues with an emphasis on the US market.
