Thomas Eggar’s new private client chief vows to attract work to regions

Thomas Eggar has appointed Richard Jordan to replace Patricia Woolgar as head of its private client group.

Jordan, a specialist in offshore taxation, will take over the position on 1 May. Before joining Thomas Eggar as a partner in March 2008 he worked at Stevens & Bolton and, before that, LG.

Worthing-based Woolgar has been head of the firm’s private client group since May 2002.

Jordan, who is based in the firm’s Chichester office, said: “In my new role as head of private client I’ll be working with my 15 partners to raise the profile of our specialist private client services in what is still a very active and buoyant market.

“Despite winning recognition from our peers for being the best private client team outside of London, there are still those clients who feel that they need to go to London for specialist private client advice. One of the key messages I’m keen to communicate is that there’s a credible alternative, as we have the talent to match the best firms in London.”

Thomas Eggar has offices in Chichester, Gatwick, London, Newbury, Southampton and Worthing. Managing partner Tony Edwards (pictured) revealed last month that the firm was searching for a single-office, mid-sized firm in London to merge with, in a bid to attract outsourced work from magic and silver circle firms in niche areas (29 March 2010).
