IPS Law homes in on Manchester music scene

Manchester sports boutique IPS Law has launched a music and entertainment practice with a lawyer from Laytons Solicitors.

Eleanor Brody focuses on drafting and negotiating contracts for musicians as well as advising on rights issues.

Brody said: “It’s rare for anyone outside London to specialise in music law, and with the amount of music activity in Manchester and the surrounding cities there’s huge potential for a busy practice.”

Brody’s clients include Doug Walker, who recently stood outside Radio 1 for hours until DJ Chris Moyles agreed to play his single live on air, and has now signed a major deal with Warner Brothers.

Former Hill Dickinson sports partner Chris Farnell set up IPS in 2006 along with solicitor Paul Fletcher, who became a partner at the boutique. IPS’s clients include Premiership footballers Jermaine Jenas and James Beattie.
