Allen & Overy (A&O) has confirmed the eight contenders set to battle it out to replace senior partner David Morley and managing partner Wim Dejonghe next spring.
Current managing partner Dejonghe will run for the senior partner position, comepting with dispute resolution head Tim House, banking co-head Stephen Kensall and Paris-based competition partner Michel Struys.
Meanwhile corporate co-head Andrew Ballheimer is leading the charge to be managing partner, with banking co-head Andrew Trahair and banking partner Michael Castle also putting themselves forward. Tokyo corporate finance partner Simon Black is the only non-European based partner to be running in A&O’s 2016 elections.
Speculation had been mounting as to who would run for the posts, with corporate chair Richard Cranfield, corporate partner Richard Browne and banking partner Cathy Bell-Walker all being singled out as possible contenders.
Both elections will take place next February and the results will announced at the end of the month.
Morley and Dejonghe will complete their terms of office by the end of April, after the pair were both elected to serve a second term in 2012.
