Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft and Jones Day have secured leading roles advising on Chrysler’s bankruptcy.

Jones Day bankruptcy star partner Corinne Ball is acting for longstanding client Chrysler alongside US bankruptcy specialist firm Togut Segal & Segal. Partner Albert Togut is leading a team at the firm. Ball has worked closely with Chrysler for a number of years leading the auto company on its workout during the 1980s.

Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft restructuring partner John Rapisardi is leading a team advising the US Treasury on the Chapter 11 filings.

The deal caps a run of success for the Cadwalader’s bankruptcy and restructuring practice.

Earlier this year the US firm scored a lead role advising on Lyondell Chemical Company’s chapter 11 proceedings. Partner George Davis led a team advising on the deal.

Chrysler’s bankruptcy comes after The Lawyer reported on the company’s joint venture with Fiat. Sullivan & Cromwell partner Scott Miller advised Fiat while Schulte Roth & Zabel partners Richard Presutti, Robert Kiesel and Alan Waldenberg were instructed by Chrysler 20 January.

Both Rapisardi and Ball were unavailable for comment.
