Schulz has joined the Anglo-French firm alongside associate Mike Danielewsky – another Ashurst alumnus.
The hire, along with fellow new recruit Bodo Schaar from Simmons and Simmons, has taken Salans’ global restructuring and insolvency partner headcount to 36.
“I can see numerous synergies between my current practice and the restructuring practice at Salans,” said Schulz. “Salans has been extremely determined in its development of this area and I look forward to further developing this great practice together with my new and former colleagues.”
Salans’ German managing partner Andreas Ziegenhagen added: “With Dietmar we’re gaining an exceptional specialist and very highly regarded professional for this purpose.”
Schulz was made up to partner at Ashurst in August 2007, having joined the firm’s Munich office the previous year. He was one of an eight-strong restructuring team poached by Ashurst from Haarman Hemmelrath.
The 2006 raid also brought partners Matt McDonald, Ingo Scholz and David von Saucken over to the top 10 firm.
