Evans, who left BLG last year after three years (4 January 2010), was previously head of branding at Clifford Chance.

At RPC he will work with HR director Sally Andrews and knowledge management head Andrew Woolfson to implement the firm’s strategies in this area.

The new role combines conventional marketing and branding with a people development aspect.

RPC managing partner Jonathan Watmough said: “It’s a novel appointment. Our brand resides on our people, and we need to develop that in the same way. This is just the start of a huge push in this area.”

Speaking to The Lawyer, he added that Evans was uniquely experienced in both branding and talent development.

Evans, who will take up the position on 6 June, said: “[RPC] is a very progressive firm looking to shape itself to emerging client needs.”
