Olswang has raided Halliwells’ corporate department, snaring one of the national firm’s best-known AIM specialists, Adam Fenner.

Fenner started at Olswang last Monday (2 October). He has particular experience in public offerings and M&A transactions and will be seen as a significant boost to one of Olswang’s core practices.

Olswang’s head of corporate Tony Leifer said Fenner’s experience in advising overseas companies on AIM flotations was a particularly good fit.

“Adam is hugely experienced in advising companies from Germany, Israel and Eastern Europe on AIM deals,” said Leifer.

“Although it’s true that his work is primarily for the issuers and therefore there is less of a consistency, he has developed a first-rate reputation for work in this area.”

Fenner’s track record for IPOs featuring UK and international clients includes advising on the first admission of a German company to AIM with an associated fund raising, and a period when he worked on 15 international IPOs in just 18 months.

In the last financial year, Olswang’s corporate group generated approximately 40 per cent of the firm’s total revenue.

The group consists of four teams: mainstream corporate, private equity, finance and tax. Fenner’s appointment takes the group to 28 partners and 70 assistants.

Halliwells managing partner Ian Austin said: “We wish Adam well.”
