Denton Wilde Sapte has advised Cadogan Petroleum on a London Stock Exchange (LSE) IPO to raise finance for its Ukrainian drilling programme.
The listing raised £150m, giving Cadogan a market capitalisation of £531m – the second largest oil and gas IPO on the LSE main market by capitalisation, according to lead corporate partner Neil Vickers.
Vickers said: “We pitched to Cadogan in September 2006 and have done corporate acquisitions, private placings and pre-IPO finance work.
“The IPO work has taken up the past six months. In current market conditions we’re delighted to be able to get over the line and raise the money we wanted to raise.”
Herbert Smith corporate partners Greg Mulley and Adam Wells advised investment bank UBS as sponsor on the transaction.
Mulley said: “This transaction shows the strength of the oil and gas sector and the interest in Ukraine in what are undoubtedly challenging markets.”
