Clyde & Co has made its second partner hire of the year, appointing former Hill Taylor Dickinson partner Graeme Baird.
Baird joined the firm last week (23 January) after 18 years with Hill Taylor. His appointment follows the hire earlier this month of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer senior associate Siva Subramaniam as a partner in Clydes’ aviation group.
Baird’s practice focuses on contentious insurance work, particularly liability insurance. He has advised the Law Society’s Assigned Risks Pool since its formation in September 2000.
He becomes the second partner to leave Hill Taylor this year. Holman Fenwick & Willan poached a highly rated commodities team, including partner Brian Perrott, from the firm at the beginning of January.
Clydes senior partner Michael Payton said Baird’s arrival complemented the firm’s existing practice, particularly its expertise in marine insurance work as well as energy and liability work.
A Hill Taylor spokesperson said the firm was sorry to see Baird go and wished him well.
