Commercial barrister Kenneth Rokison QC is retiring from 20 Essex Street and has marked the event by embarking on an Egyptian adventure. He joined 120 other cyclists on a six-day trip along the banks of the River Nile to raise money for mental health charity Mencap. The silk, who turns 60 in April, plans to retire later this year and saw the bike ride as the ideal opportunity to celebrate both events. He finished the arduous 500 kilometre ride late last week and raised more than £10,000 in sponsorship pledges for Mencap. No stranger to adventure, Rokison has completed two Himalayan treks in the past three years and, as a student at Cambridge, he and Tony – now Mr Justice – Hooper paddled a canoe from the River Cam to Malta via the English Channel and Europe's inland waterways.
