Herbert Smith is set to conduct a major employee opinion survey on diversity and inclusivity at the firm.
The firm completed a similar survey with input from an external occupational psyhologist practice, Pearn Kandola, in 2004.
In that survey, the most frequently raised issue was flexible working. Herbert Smith is poised to roll out revised policies on flexible working later in the summer.
Herbert Smith now plans to conduct an employee survey annually and will launch the next one some time during the autumn.
The firm is yet to decide whether or not to run the survey in conjunction with an external consultant.
Herbert Smith has taken a number of steps to address diversity issues and, in April, recruited Carolyn Lee as the firm’s first full-time inclusivity manager.
It is understood that Herbert Smith is the first law firm to hire a dedicated inclusivity manager.
