Geoff Perry was previously joint head of corporate at Cameron’s Budapest office.
The hire comes 18 months after Bevan Ashford’s Bristol and London arms launched in Birmingham. The office has so far focused on health, employment, projects and property.
David Worskett, Bevan Ashford’s newly appointed commercial development director, said: “What we’re offering to our existing clients and new clients will be stronger and more attractive with this extra skill set on board. We’ve already identified that there’s a demand for us to do this. What we’re doing in Birmingham is building on our existing specialisms. We’re not having any difficulty in getting work there.”
Perry is the firm’s fifth full-time partner in Birmingham. He said: “I had a fantastic time in Budapest. I built up a practice there and a client base, but three years was a long enough time to spend abroad.”
Before leaving, Perry advised Raiffeisen Private Equity Management on the first ever leveraged buyout in Hungary. His other key clients at Camerons included Citibank, ABN Amro, GlaxoSmithKline and Lloyds TSB Development Capital.
Perry was born and brought up in the Midlands and was keen to return. He said: “What I was looking for was the chance to build something up again like in Budapest. I looked at a number of the firms with a smaller presence here. Bevan Ashford affords me the opportunity to leverage off an established name and build something for them on the corporate side.”
