MoFo steps up Japan drive with senior Milbank hire

Morrison & Foerster is blazing ahead with the expansion of its Tokyo office after scooping a senior finance partner from Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy.

Tsugumichi Watanabe has worked in both New York and Tokyo and has over 20 years on acting on complex financing transactions. Morrison & Foerster is also taking on an extra floor at its offices in Tokyo allowing it to expand from its current 65 lawyers to 100 attorneys.

The firm has made a number of key hires in the region over the past 18 months, most recently taking on Katsuhiko Fujihira and Yukako Wagatsuma from Mitsui Yasuda Wani & Maeda, the leading Japanese firm where the majority of lawyers joined Linklaters.
