Tulkinghorn had a busy seven days last week. Not only was he out and about with the Kirkland chaps, he also made it over to a private view at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.

It was a grand do, with some 650 clients (and not, as US managing partner Paul Wickes described them, “extras hired from Central Casting to make the place look busy”) trying not to damage the artwork. Everybody was shockingly well behaved, and Linklaters had even laid on some comedy. A senior US judge, with a panicked look on his face, started dragging his wife to the exit having only just realised the event was sponsored by a law firm. And a Limey one at that! Seems judges are the same on both sides of the pond.
