Hammonds recently bagged Northern private equity house Endless as a new client. Endless is a formidable venture fronted by respective ex-Andersen and Ernst & Young advisers Garry Wilson and Darren Forshaw with a £135m war chest and an impressive 17 transactions completed in two years.

It is certainly a client that lead partner Nick Watson would want to keep close to his bosom.

And how did he go about forming this new and hopefully longlasting relationship? Through sleepless nights spent penning comprehensive pitches? Through strutting his stuff in a beauty parade? The answer involves late nights, but not necessarily ones in front of the PowerPoint presentation.

“By taking them out to the pub a lot,” admits Watson.
