Mayer Brown suffers NY exodus

Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw (MBRM) has suffered a five-partner walk-out from its New York office, with White & Case reaping the rewards,

Finance partners Ronald Brody, Jin Kim, Kenneth Suh, Jeffrey Whyte and Nazim Zilkha will all leave MBRM for White & Case. All are experienced in corporate finance, debt finance and high-yield debt offerings.

The group’s departure follows that of M&A rainmaker William Candelaria, who left MBRM’s New York office for West Coast firm Gibson Dunn & Crutcher (as reported on www.thelawyer.com, 9 February).

In September, MBRM’s litigation star Dennis Orr led a four-partner defection from MBRM to Morrison & Foerster (see The Lawyer, 8 September).

Meanwhile, White & Case has been on a hiring spree of late, poaching three partners in New York, three in London and one in Frankfurt in the last three months. White & Case confirmed the appointments but declined to comment further.

An MBRM spokesperson was unavailable for comment.
