Bredin Prat has scooped its first-ever instruction from BAE Systems after advising the company on the disposal of its holding in Airbus alongside best friend Slaughter and May.

Slaughters corporate partner Nigel Boardman led the team acting for BAE as it disposed of the 20 per cent holding, working as an integrated unit with Bredin Prat and partner Brigitte Leclerc.

Leclerc was one of the partners formerly at Slaughter’s Paris office before Bredin Prat took over the bulk of the operation in January this year.

BAE is a longstanding Slaughters client, but Bredin Prat has not previously advised the company.

Meanwhile, Clifford Chance partners Kate Howles in London and Thierry Schoen in Paris led a large team in the UK, France and the Netherlands acting for Airbus owner EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) in the 2.75bn EUR (£1.85bn) sale.

The transaction saw BAE exercise a put option and completed on Friday (13 October).
