Pinsent Masons has been given the green light to follow its Asia expansion strategy and open an office in Beijing.
The firm was granted a licence to open in the Chinese capital just before Christmas and now intends to open by the end of January. When it launches the office will be staffed by one partner and a handful of associates.
Pinsents international development partner Tony Bunch said: “We’ve identified some premises and we’ll be fully functional in Beijing pretty quickly.”
Bunch said Pinsents was also looking for wider growth throughout Asia, focusing on corporate, commercial and project finance work.
“There are significant plans for growth generally in Asia – it’s a major part of the international business. We think this year will be an extremely good year,” he said.
The new office follows hot on the heals of the launch of Pinsents’ European network alongside German firm Luther, called Pinsent Masons Luther Group, which gives the firm capabilities in France, Germany, Hungary and Austria.
