Herbert Smith has landed a second silk as the City firm forges ahead with plans to launch its own set of chambers.
It is understood that Herbert Smith has signed up leading commercial silk Ian Gatt QC of Littleton Chambers. The hire comes hot on the heels of the appointment of Murray Rosen QC of 11 Stone Buildings.
As exclusively revealed by The Lawyer (21 March), Rosen, who already has a close relationship with Herbert Smith, is joining the firm to establish and grow its in-house advocacy unit within the litigation practice.
Gatt, who was appointed QC in 2002, specialises in employment disputes, general commercial litigation and professional indemnity work.
Gatt’s recent cases include Heard & Fellows v Sinclair Roche & Temperley, which relates to a complaint by female equity partners against the legacy law firm alleging sex discrimination.
Herbert Smith declined to comment.
