Gowling WLG’s top ranked investment funds team acted for Jefferies International Limited (“Jefferies”) on the transfer of Third Point Offshore Investors Limited (“Third Point”) from a standard listing to a premium listing.

Third Point is a “feeder” structure that invests in a master fund that allows investors a unique opportunity to gain direct exposure to legendary US investor, Daniel S. Loeb’s opportunistic investment strategy. Third Point has a market capitalisation in excess of $500 million.

Nick Heather, a partner in Gowling WLG’s investment funds team, said: “This was a high profile transaction and part of Third Points’ continuing campaign to broaden its appeal to a wider range of investors and will facilitate its eligibility for inclusion in the FTSE UK Index Series. We are delighted to have advised Jefferies as sponsor.”

Gowling WLG’s leading investment funds team (Tier 1 Legal 500) has a strong reputation in terms of closed end listed funds, advising issuers, investment houses and the banks and brokers that advise them. It brings together experts in tax, corporate, finance, regulatory and dispute resolution to provide a full legal service to its clients.

Third Point was advised by Herbert Smith Freehills.
