FORMER England rugby international scrum half Richard Moon has joined Warwickshire firm Blythe Liggins as head of its employment law unit.
Moon, who trained and worked with City firm Freshfields for eight years, moved to Birmingham practice Wragge & Co last year. He started at Blythe Liggins last month.
An England B international, Moon won rugby Blue alongside high-profile Cambridge players Rob Andrew and Gavin Hastings.
Before his retirement from first class rugby last year, Moon appeared several times for international side the Barbarians, including in the Hong Kong Sevens.
He says the decision to join Blythe Liggins was made because “there is a great potential within this particular area, and in the region generally, for employment specialists”.
“Employment is a rapidly increasing area in the law, due largely to the European influence,” says Moon.
“It has always been a hot subject, but over the last year or so the European influence has been tremendous.”
