Reed Smith bolsters NY practice with Dorsey hire

Reed Smith has continued a recent hiring spree with the arrival of finance partner Jonathan Ross.

Ross joins Reed Smith’s New York finance and investment management practice from Dorsey & Whitney.

It is the latest in a glut of new arrivals since the beginning of the year, and comes just days after it announced the arrival of seven real estate lawyers at its Pittsburgh office (19 May 2010).

Last month it was reported that four senior construction partners were due to arrive from Pinsent Masons’ London office (23 April 2010), while the firm’s TMT practice in Munich was bolstered with the arrival of a three-strong team from Hammonds (12 April 2010).

Two partners have also been added to its energy, trade and commodities group since January (8 March 2010).

Ross, who is admitted to practice in New York, the UK and Ireland, specialises in capital markets products including corporate, securitised and high-yield bonds.

Before joining Dorsey & Whitney he was on secondment at The Bank of New York Mellon, where he headed a team conducting the due diligence of JPMorgan’s EMEA corporate trust and custody business.

He was also an associate at Emmet Marvin & Martin and White & Case’s London office. Ross said he was attracted by the Reed Smith’s integrated global and nationwide platform and its broad asset coverage.
