Norton Rose boosts IT in jobs drive

Norton Rose is expanding its IT department with a 'New directions for IT professionals' programme. Positions created include a systems planning and development manager, a systems programmer and a quality assurance officer.

Brian Powell, Norton Rose head of IT, aims to promote a more professional approach to IT in the legal profession.

He says: “Law firms have always been a bit backwards as far as IT is concerned.

“I plan for Norton Rose to be more at the cutting edge of what is happening.”

Powell plans the development of more sophisticated technology, improved security, more professional IT staff and greater transfer of skills to existing staff.

Tony Browne, former Norton Rose communications manager, has left the IT department and his replacement Barry Card has also taken on the role of operations manager.
