Partners at Australian firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques have voted in favour of a merger with King & Wood, with the Chinese firm still to vote.
Mallesons yesterday announced to its staff that it had achieved the 75 per cent super majority consensus among its 170-plus partnership that was required to approve the merger. The exact percentage of the partnership in favour of the merger is not known.
Mallesons and King & Wood have been in talks since at least July (21 July 2011).
It is not yet known when partners at King & Wood are voting on the tie-up.
Partners at Mallesons’s London office were told of the result of the vote yesterday morning (23 November 2011).
Until recently King & Wood was in an alliance with Australia firm Gilbert & Tobin.
