Linklaters boosts corporate practice in Netherlands

Linklaters has boosted its Netherlands practice, with a raid on Allen & Overy for a Dutch corporate partner.

The hire of Bart Jan Kuck, a Dutch deputy civil law notary, was a “significant step” for Linklaters, according to Amsterdam corporate head Pieter Riemer.

In a statement, Reimer said: “Bart Jan has a valuable combination of notarial skills and transactional experience: his appointment will enable us to provide in-house notarial support to our clients in the Netherlands. We are committed to further growth across all practice areas in Amsterdam in response to client demand,”

Reimer and fellow corporate partner Peter Goes joined the Dutch practice last year.

The hire comes as Dutch lawyers expect to benefit from an EU directive which will cut corporate tax in the Netherlands, making it one of Western Europe’s lowest taxed jurisdictions.

Kuck specialises in advising a range of general corporate and M&A transactions and on regulatory and securities law.
