Shearman & Sterling has appointed EMEA project finance and development head Nicholas Buckworth as London managing partner, replacing banking colleague Anthony Ward.
In addition, Mei Lian, a partner in the capital markets team, takes over the deputy managing partner role from Richard Price, who becomes co-head of corporate with Laurence Levy.
Ward has now been appointed a member of the firm’s four-person global executive group, which deals with issues including lateral hiring and compensation.
He and Price had held their positions for just over three years.
As part of the shake-up, Tim Pick replaces Buckworth as head of the EMEA project finance group.
Speaking to The Lawyer Buckworth praised the outgoing leadership and said he planned to carry on with the firm’s policy of growth.
