Allen & Overy has hired an energy partner for its Australian operation, the 19th partner for its fledgling offices in Perth and Sydney.
Angus Jones, whose practice focuses on liquefied natural gas, renewable energy and mining projects, joins the Perth office from national firm Allens Arthur Robinson.
A&O Perth managing parter Geoff Simpson said: “The energy and resources sectors represent important parts of the legal market in Australia.

Australia managing partner Grant Fuzi added: “Angus’s expertise fits well with our plan to continue strengthening our position in the energy and natural resources sector in Australia. The news comes after A&O hired competition partner Dave Poddarfrom Mallesons Stephen Jacquesfor its Sydney office (22 June 2010).
The magic circle firm launched in Australia in February through the hire of 17 partners, 14 of whom joined from Clayton Utz.
