Burges Salmon: ‘Business as usual’ despite exit

Chris Jackson stood down in December 2009, having succeeded Guy Stobart in May. But Morris said that, despite his sudden ascension to the throne, there would be no major upheaval at the firm.

“We’re evolutionary in our approach anyway, so it’s business as usual,” he said. “It’s a surprise in the sense that we weren’t expecting Chris to stand down, but it wasn’t working for him and that’s down to a combination of things. He discussed it with us and he made a decision in the best interests of himself and the firm.”

Morris stood for the role unopposed after Jackson cited personal reasons for his decision to resign.
