Hunton promotions plummet, London gets one

US firm Hunton & Williams has promoted 11 new partners.

The promotions include English-qualified AIM specialist Dearbhla Quigley, based in London, who focuses on public equity markets, M&A and private equity, and who was featured in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 of up and coming lawyers in 2005.

She is the second associate to be made up in the London office’s 10-year history, following London banking lawyer Swati Patel in 2005.

However Quigley was the only promotion to the partnership outside the USA this year, with associates at the firm’s offices in Bangkok, Beijing, Brussels and Singapore all missing out.

The 11 promotions also mark a significant reduction from last year, when 20 associates were made up.

Hunton’s London-based European managing partner, Martin Thomas, said: “This is a tougher year, its hard for people to come through to the partnership.”

The firm’s intellectual property group was the biggest winner, with three new partners, while litigation and corporate saw two made up, and real estate, regulatory, banking and insolvency one each.

The promotions in full are:
Sean Beard, corporate, Richmond, Virginia.
John Decker, real estate, Atlanta, Georgia.
John Delionado, litigation, Miami, Florida.
Steven Epstein, litigation, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Lowell Harrison regulatory, Austin, Texas.
Kevin Hull, banking, McLean, Virginia.
Bradley Lennie, intellectual property, Washington, DC.
Michael Phelps, intellectual property, McLean, Virginia.
Dearbhla Quigley, corporate, London
Yisun Song, intellectual property, Washington, DC.
Michael Wilson, insolvency, Richmond, Virginia.
