The Netherlands' largest law firm Nauta Dutilh has shut its Indonesian office, and more international closures could be on the way.
The firm is considering closing its international operations – which include offices in Singapore, Madrid and Prague.
Rotterdam managing partner Job van der Have says that the New York and London offices will not be affected. But he confirms that Nauta is in talks to form a best friends relationship with Slaughter and May.
Van der Have blames the closure of Nauta's 15 year-old Jakarta office on the Asian economic crisis.
He says: “We have reviewed our position in the international legal market and have decided to be very strong in our own legal market with best friend relationships.”
