Muckle hires as partner retires” />The former senior partner of Newcastle-based Muckle will retire from the law, but the firm has recruited two partners for its property and construction groups and intends to grow.

Commercial partner Ian Gilthorpe will retire by April 2008 for personal reasons.

The firm has recruited Tim Craig, who joins from DLA Piper in Manchester, where he is anassociate.

Craig will start as a partner in Muckle’s construction group in January 2008.

Also joining is Nick Todd, who was an associate at Eversheds. He has started as a partner in Muckle’s public sector property group.

The firm has ambitions to continue its expansion, although not outside Newcastle like some of its regional rivals.

Muckle has recruited around 10 fee-earners in the past 12-18 months and has seen longstanding growth in turnover of approximately 15 per cent annually.
