Tods Murray boosts status with takeover

Scottish firm Tods Murray has taken over Glasgow-based boutique Browning & Bowes.

In a separate move the firm has overhauled its lockstep structure to make it easier for partners to move to the top of equity. The firm’s chairman Peter Misselbrook said that it has cut the number of years it takes to get to full equity from eight to six. He said the move reflects the firm’s strong performance.

Browning & Bowes partner Stephen Humprey, who specialises in litigation, with emphasis on property, social housing and construction, joins as a partner. Partner Graham Browning joins as a consultant.

Alistair Burrow, Glasgow managing partner at Tods Murray, said: “Our Glasgow office, which opened in June 1999, has shown remarkable growth. One of the objectives for opening this office was to strengthen market position and competitiveness – the firm has succeeded in that.”

The National House Builders’ Association is a client of Browning & Bowes.
