• Pensions lawyer Carol Jones has moved to ­Hammonds as a senior associate. She joins from Pinsent Masons.
• Healthcare specialist Capsticks has made up five new partners: Annie Sorbie (dispute ­resolution), Peter Steel (dispute resolution), Susie Rogers (property) and Mark Whiting (dispute ­resolution) in London, and Jacqui Atkinson (employment) in Birmingham.
• The name partners of media boutique Best & Soames are closing the firm. Hubert Best will continue as a partner at ENN in Stockholm, where he has practised since 2003, while Martin Soames is joining Simons Muirhead & Burton as a ­partner.
• Seddons has boosted its residential ­conveyancing team by recruiting assistants Emily Lui and Sara Hall. The pair joined from Gowen & Stevens and Streathers respectively.

South West
• Shipping lawyer Jonathan Hadley-Piggin has joined Ashfords as a partner in Exeter. He was previously at Shoosmiths in Southampton.
• Higher education specialist Karen Stephenson has moved to Veale Wasbrough Lawyers in Bristol as a partner where she will head the firm’s higher education practice. She joins from ­London South Bank University, where she held an in-house role.

Midlands
• Staffordshire firm Ansons has recruited Adam Penn as an assistant in its personal injury group. He was previously a consultant at Hollies ­Solicitors & Advocates.
• Harrison Clark has strengthened its ­construction and engineering team with the appointment of new partner Tim Willis from Birmingham-based The Wilkes Partnership.

North
• Leeds-based Lee & Priestley has taken on ­litigation associate Ian Hemingway. He joins
from Irwin Mitchell and will work in the firm’s defamation team.
Ward Hadaway has boosted its Leeds office with the appointment of intellectual property and IT associate Laura Harper, who previously worked at Cobbetts.

Europe
• Baltic firm Lideika Petrauskas Valiunas ir Partneriai-Lawin has taken on two new ­partners. Tomas Milasauskas joins as head of property from Sorainen Law Offices while finance lawyer Gediminas Recuinas has been ­promoted to partner.
• Luxembourg firm Wildgen Partners in Law has promoted two new equity partners – ­corporate lawyer Eric Sublon and banking lawyer Michel Bulach. This brings the total number of lawyers in the firm to six. Three associates were also promoted to director.

Asia and Middle East

• Clayton Utz consultant Michael Pryles has been appointed as chairman of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

US
• Steven Tonsfeldt has joined O’Melveny & Myers as a corporate partner in its Silicon Valley branch. He was previously a partner at Heller Ehrman.
Latham & Watkins outsourcing and ­technology partner Dan Mummery has defected to Gibson Dunn & Crutcher to join as partner in the firm’s Palo Alto office.

Offshore
• Maitland has recruited former Walkers lawyer David Pytches as a partner in its Cayman Islands office. Pytches specialises in succession and trusts.
• Litigation partner Michael Faye has been appointed as managing partner of Ogier’s British Virgin Islands office. He takes over from Duncan Smith, who will continue as Hong Kong managing partner.

The bar/bench
• The Office for Legal Complaints has ­appointed Adam Sampson as its first chief ombudsman. He is currently chief executive of the housing and homelessness charity Shelter.
