A&O’s Keal exits for Simpson Thacher

Allen & Overy (A&O) heavyweight Tony Keal is moving to US firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett after 23 years at the magic circle firm.

It is known that Keal has been in discussion with the A&O senior management for several months about his exit. Keal acts for key Simpson Thacher client Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) in all its debt financing in the UK. The move is a natural fit for New York firm’s debt practice as it looks to shore up its relationship with KKR.

Leveraged finance specialist Keal becomes the fourth lawyer in Simpson Thacher’s London acquisition finance team, joining former A&O partner Euan Gorrie and former Ashurst partner Stephen Short.
