All away to Galway

The ever-booming Irish legal market got a new player last week with the merger of Cork-based Ronan Daly Jermyn Solicitors (RDJ) with William B Glynn Solicitors in Galway. More accurately, the deal is a takeover of William B Glynn, total headcount around 15, by the 125-people strong RDJ.

What’s particularly interesting about this deal is its location. Although it doesn’t yet rival Dublin, in recent years the west of Ireland has seen significant growth in two of its biggest commercial centres.

According to RDJ managing partner John Dwyer, “the combination of RDJ and William B Glynn generates a real synergy and will enable us to represent our clients more effectively on a truly national scale”.

RDJ is already the largest law firm outside Dublin and this latest deal is thought to have taken the total revenue up to within touching distance of €25m (£16.91m). The firm is now about to embark on a recruitment drive to beef up in Galway. Dublin-based lawyers may apply.
