Herbies to get just deserts?

It may have been a pipe dream for Herbert Smith a couple of years ago, but having been in Dubai for just over a year, the firm is now waiting to well and truly make its mark in the Middle East.

With the Dubai office already making a profit, Herbert Smith, like a raft of other firms, is waiting on tenterhooks to gain a licence to practise in Abu Dhabi.

Dubai head Neil Brimson, who will be joined by five or six associates, is gearing up to take charge of the new office. Which makes him a very busy lawyer indeed, especially given that he’s also going back and forth to Saudi Arabia to discuss how the firm’s alliance with Al Ghazzawi Professional Association will pan out.
