Heller Ehrman launches in London

West coast US firm Heller Ehrman is set to launch an office in London.

The search for a London base has taken more than 12 months. The Lawyer revealed that Heller Ehrman had plans to launch in the capital exactly a year ago today (16 January, 2006).

Heller Ehrman chairman Matt Larrabee commented: “We closely studied the business landscape throughout Europe and found that this is the right time for us to expand.”

The office, Heller Ehrman’s first in Europe, will be staffed by three partners drawn from the firm’s US offices. It will focus on the corporate, real estate and antitrust practice areas as well as try and build up a name for technology work in the UK and Europe.

International development partner Ted Hennebury will be joined by real estate and private equity partner Brian Smith and corporate finance specialist Stephen Ferruolo. Hennebury concentrates on antitrust and competition matters.

A date for the launch has not yet been set but the partners will relocate to London in the early part of this year.

Heller Ehrman follows its West coast rivals Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, Morrison & Foerster, O’Melveny & Myers, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman into the London market.
